Keeping your luggage safe: practical tips for travellers

Simple habits that protect your bags and belongings when you leave them with a local storage partner.

Leaving a bag with someone you have never met is an act of trust. A few habits make it safer for everyone.

Before you drop off

  • Keep passports, wallets, medication, keys and electronics with you.
  • Close and, if you can, lock your bags. Add a tag with your name or contact details.
  • Check the partner's opening hours and the size they accept.
  • Take clear photos of every bag, including any existing marks.

At the spot

Make sure the partner sees your bags and knows where they are going. Keep your booking confirmation open on your phone; it contains the code needed at pick-up.

What not to store

Leave only clothes and personal items. Do not leave laptops or other electronics, documents, money, jewellery or valuables, and never anything illegal, dangerous or perishable. Bagdropin does not insure luggage and the partner is responsible for the bags they hold, so keep what matters with you. Partners may refuse items that look unsafe.

If something goes wrong, contact support with your booking code and photos as soon as you notice.

At pick-up

Check your bags before you leave and tell the partner right away if anything looks different from your photos.
